POP BEAT
Beatallica has been served with a cease-and-desist letter by Sony/ATV publishing, which owns the rights to the Beatles catalog. Since forming in 2001, the Milwaukee band has been playing mutations of Beatles songs in Metallica's imitable style and posting its Frankenstein creations such as "Got to Get You Trapped Under Ice" and "Everybody's Got a Ticket to Ride Except Me and My Lightning" on its Web site. One of the most popular MP3s was "Leper Madonna" ... San Francisco singer-songwriter Matt Nathanson has been tapped as the opening act on Tori Amos' monthlong Original Sinsuality tour, which opens April 1 in Clearwater, Fla. Nathanson sang the James song "Laid" in the opening credits of "American Wedding."
