Burt Bacharach
Pop music is not your enemy. While the word “pop” conjures up horrible images of Christina Aguilera succubizing the nation, or Hilary Duff playing Lolita in the rain, there should be another connotation that the word derives. Pop should conjure images of sophistication. Pop should conjure images of a certain attitude of “too cool to rock.”

Kids Say The Darndest Things
Anyway, I was reading an article online about Michael Jackson (among other celebs). There were several pictures. He knows who Britney Spears is, but when he saw the picture of MJ, he said (I'm NOT kidding!) in his most disgusted tone:

The Grill
Have you ever pondered as to why some folks in the hip hop arena decorate their “grills?” To satiate your curiousity, take a lookie at the following article. As for me, the mouth is a dirty cess pool and I wouldn’t want to subject costly jewelry to food-kibbles and tooth decaying organisms.

Hangin' Out
That was stupid. I’m watching Daredevil on FX right now and that Evanescence song is playing. Man this shit is hilarious. Bullseye, as played by Danny Witwer, just threw a cane through Kasuf’s heart. O’Bannion was just standin there blind as shit, and now Elektra is pissed at him. Drama right? Anyway, click some ads and try and solve the Dantower. Peace

Music Choice 90s Channel
Before I start, I have to say that I am getting quite addicted to the Music Choice 90’s Channel. Playing right now is “Diamonds and Pearls” by Prince. A song I haven’t heard in 10 years. Before that was “Shiny Happy People” by REM and “Escapade” by Janet Jackson. This channel rules!

Review: Street Wars 9
Now let’s talk about this Big Sty fella. In case you weren’t aware of homeboy, he put out ‘Its A Problem’ a few months ago (its included here) which dissed um… everyone! In ‘How To Rob An Industry Cat’ style, Sty throws mud at Jay-Z (“since Beyonce been sucking your dick, you got soft as a bitch”), Nas (“tell em they shootin’ I hope you can dodge one, you God’s Son? well I’ma make you see God son”), 50 Cent (“you shit blew not because of your rhymes, cos in every interview you say “I got shot nine times”), Ja-Rule (“that ‘Clapback’ shit is manure, still doing love songs for those little TRL viewers”), as well as G-Unit, Bravehearts, Eminem, Nelly, Chingy, Busta, Missy, Pharell, and Rocafella and Bay Boy Records. His short ‘I’m Sorry’ follow-up is also included here, which sees him dangle apologies out to everyone he offended… and then snatch it back and add an additional ‘fuck you’.

Taradise
So O and A are playing clips of taradise, that stupid show with Tara Reid. She makes Jessica Simpson look like John Nash. (yes some one you are saying who the hell is john nash, jmdb says he is the character Russell Crowe plays in A Beautiful Mind). This ditz even keeps spouting out how smart she is. Its almost as believably as Rob saying how straight he is.

Christmas Song Ideas?
Here's what I'm looking for...I like traditional Christmas songs, though newer ones are okay, too. Y'all know I don't believe in secular/sacred so any classification is fine. I like the blues--a lot--I like folk music (also a lot), I particularly like music by popular artists that one might not associate with Christmas music (for example, The Barenaked Ladies, Natalie Merchant, Avril Lavigne (who has a kick ass version of O Holy Night), Bob Marley, etc...)

Review: Awfully Deep
‘Awfully Deep’ displays the eclectic talent of the shy and humble MC perfectly. New to fatherhood, you might expect some more personal touches, but Rodney is no Eminem. That’s a good thing by the way. Unfortunately there are no ‘Sinny Sin Sins’ on his mind this time but there are plenty of the usual Roots-isms to discover. The first to instantly entrap you is the opening track, ‘Mind 2 Motion’. Starting strong with an underground bass line that conjours up imagery of a mass jungle rave, complete with Tarzan and Ace Ventura gettin’ down and grimy. Lyrics are absolute fire as you’d expect and Roots rides the rhythms better then anyone, particularly, and viciously manipulating his voice to the max’ for the chorus. Probably the greatest intro song to an album I have heard in years.

Lack of Emotion and Talent
Remember when Metallica was pulverzing your brains with lar’s infamous double bass drums? Remember when Korn didnt try to over produce their music and just rocked out? Remember when Pantera ruled the metal scene? Ozzy wasnt a TV star? Metal wasnt popular to like? Teenagers couldnt buy AC/DC and Judas Priest shirts at Dillards and JC Pennies? Bad Rap Rock didnt exist (yes, there are a few good rap/rock bands), Punk wasnt trendy? Green Day weren’t trendy? MTV still played videos that werent rap? Headbangers Ball? (the real one, not the fake one today), Sepultura? White Zombie? Faith No More? NIN (the real NIN)?

K-Fed!
I heard a sample of KFed’s (Kevin Federline, best known as Mr. Britney Spears) debut single “Y’all ‘Aint Ready.” I heard this on my commute to USC tuning to Power106 (105.9 FM).
