Review: Awfully Deep
‘Awfully Deep’ displays the eclectic talent of the shy and humble MC perfectly. New to fatherhood, you might expect some more personal touches, but Rodney is no Eminem. That’s a good thing by the way. Unfortunately there are no ‘Sinny Sin Sins’ on his mind this time but there are plenty of the usual Roots-isms to discover. The first to instantly entrap you is the opening track, ‘Mind 2 Motion’. Starting strong with an underground bass line that conjours up imagery of a mass jungle rave, complete with Tarzan and Ace Ventura gettin’ down and grimy. Lyrics are absolute fire as you’d expect and Roots rides the rhythms better then anyone, particularly, and viciously manipulating his voice to the max’ for the chorus. Probably the greatest intro song to an album I have heard in years.

iPod Rant
Basically if your not brain dead, or if you didn’t fight in ‘Nam and loose half you’re hearing, when you sit down with any decent stereo or headphones (not the cheap Plaskool ear buds Apple throws at you) you’re going to notice that AAC has a very limited capacity, its going to drive you mad if you have any musical taste. Sure you might be able to listen to you’re favorite Eminem cd you bought on iTunes without noticing anything, but really the only people who listen to to this kind of music all the time are the ones blasting it through there Sony 18″ headphones because somehow they got it into their heads we like Rap, and we enjoy hearing about a white man beating his wife.

How To Make Me Leave Your Website
Most of the time when I’m at my computer, I have iTunes playing. So when I go to a website to read something and music starts playing without me telling it to, I get very annoyed. Because there’s not much worse than David Crowder and Eminem trying to sing overtop of each other.

DJ Proof On Eminem
Addressing recent reports that Eminem was planning to retire from making solo albums and touring, Proof says “I keep on telling people, Em will be 50 or 60 years old, and will be about to be an old man still playing with MCs,” he says. “I don’t think he’ll ever quit. He might even drop another solo album. I can’t see him not rapping — he’s too crazy.”

Music Matters
Bottom line? If you are a Christian and think you can still listen to AC/DC, Eminem, J-Lo or whatever it is you like remember this: if the song doesn’t Glorify God, who do you think it glorifies? Pray that the Lord will help you in this matter and give you a love for music that Glorifies Him and builds up your spirit. My own prayer is that you do.

Rapper Musings
Jessica Hopper writes an excellent missive about male privilege, as does Julianne Shepherd. Good reading for people who have ever wondered how, for some reason, black rappers slip under the radar and we can only call out Eminem for his shit, lest we look like crazy honkies who don't get it, and especially good reading for those who haven't.

Eminem Video
All though I have not fully seen the new video by Eminem for the song Ass Like That, I know how most of his videos are a beyond just being a little controversial. Many parents feel that Eminem is rude, obnoxious, and is crossing the line and actually getting paid for his nonsense. It is one thing to express yourself and completely another thing to be making money by expressing your views about others such as, Janet Jackson, Brittany Spears, and Gwen Stefani just to name a few.

Eminem's Shocking Video
In the song, the rap genius jokes about Janet Jackson’s infamous Super Bowl incident, where she (accidentally or not) bared a jewel-studded breast. The lyrics also says that Britney Spears has “shoulders like a man”, and makes a rude proposition to “No Doubt” frontliner Gwen Stefani.

Eminem And Civilization
They don’t quite understand what kind of place the world is or what kind of animal human beings are. One sweeping generalization we can make about mankind is that at least 50% of all human being are outrageously crazy, prone to impulsive stupidity and dangerous acts of irrational self-destructive violence. This is more true of the audience of children raised on Eminem than some backwater in the Middle East. Nobody is more incredibly stupid or vicious than highly civilized people.

Eminem Bio
A protégé of Dr. Dre, rapper Eminem emerged in 1999 as one of the most controversial rappers to ever grace the genre. Using his biting wit and incredible skills to vent on everything from his unhappy childhood to his contempt for the mainstream media, his success became the biggest crossover success the genre had seen since Dre's solo debut seven years earlier.

Censorship Is Good For Sales
When an artist has a song banned or has their song censored, they often tend to sell more records. Famed rapper Eminem sold more than half of what was projected in sales when his controversial Marshall Mathers LP c.d was released. Society's youth are the majority of the sales that occur with such "explicit " c.d's. Sure, this may be a problem for parents, however, if children are taught the importance of right and wrong then there is no danger in their children listening to the music. Parents cannot watch their children every minute of everyday so the values that they instill in their children will play a key role in what their children choose to listen to or buy.

Western Influences in Arabia
Driving to Al Qantab, I passed through a small, poor village. Goats roamed freely, munching on rubbish, while young boys ran alongside the car, waving excitedly. Passing an old, disused building, I noticed two pieces of graffiti, both in red paint. The first was in Arabic – a fairly standard scribble praising Osama bin Laden. The next was in block-lettered English – EMINEM, it said. As I whizzed out from the town, it occurred to me that these simple scribbles explained a great deal about Middle Eastern politics, and regional attitudes towards the West.

Elton lauds Eminem
Sir Elton John has said that rapper Eminem is a talent equalvalent with Jimi Hendrix and Mick Jagger.
“From the start, I’ve always admired Eminem’s thinking. That’s the reason I wanted to appear on the Grammys with him when I was asked, despite all the nonsense talked about his being homophobic,” Sir Elton said. “Let the Boy Georges and the George Michaels of the world get up in a twist about it if they don’t have the intelligence to see his intelligence.”
Sir Elton made the comments in the latest issue of Rolling Stone, where Eminem is part of a special “Immortals” edition, which features the 50 greatest figures in rock ‘n’ roll history.

Eminem Never Fails
So I am hanging out at my friends place this weekend and he puts on the new eminem CD. At first I didn’t really enjoy this CD as much as I did the others. His other CD’s had more upbeat songs with a lot of jokes in them. This CD is more about the actual lyrics than jokes. So as the night went on I kept playing and it began to grow on me. Few songs stuck out most, "Ass Like That", "Puke", and "Mosh". The latter which I really did not care for, being the staunch republican I am, but the other two are hysterical. When just listening...

Eminem and His Attitude
Very interesting. He's offensive. Flipping the bird is a way to show his offensiveness. Why does Eminem need to be offensive?
It was not the first time Eminem exposed himself that way: in 2001, he also appeared in the Cosmopolitan magazine, where he appeared completely naked except for a stick of dynamite strategically placed on the right place.
Why did Eminem chose nudity as a way of expressing himself?
Some of you may think: probably to attract lots of pretty girls. Maybe true, but you have to look further at Eminems way of expressing. He is never afraid to tell you what he likes and what he strongly dislikes. Since the release of the Marshall Mathers LP, Eminem has been mocking the sugarcoated bubblegum pop world represented by artists like Britney Spears.

"I'm Queer and I Love Eminem"
Whatever bitchy mood George is in, I would suspect that it is jealousy, not political correctness, that motivates him. Whatever Eminem sings or raps about, he does so with a level of artistic honesty and imagination that simply outclasses both Elton and George. Elton at least recognizes that.

Eminem Song Hits Charts Early
For those who don’t know, Gracenote aka CDDB returns track names for physical CDs (not MP3s) when they are played in something like Winamp or Windows Media Player. Gracenote record the number of requests they have for particular albums, and keep a Top 40 on their website. Eminem’s latest album ‘The Eminem Show’ moved into position 2 two days before it was due to be released. Find out what happened at News.com, cos it seems like it’s not just Napster they have to really worry about anymore.
