Depeche Mode Hangover
He said this after I randomly complemented him and his friend for their coordinated orange inmate costumes and choreographed dancing during Scissor Sisters’ pre-show performance. He looked like Jesse Ventura and he and his circle of friends were all wearing what looked like a piece of broken glass on their foreheads.

A Pinch Of Scissor Sisters
This was a buzz for me. It’s not often I come across a band I take to so immediately but their musical style, the vocals, the look of the band all come together to make a coherent and genuinely different… something. It’s hard to define but these guys definitely have the talent and energy, judging from their website, to get wider recognition and fame. They deserve it. Think Pet Shop Boys put in a blender with Soft Cell, add a pinch of Scissor Sisters - only a pinch, these guys are a duo not an ensemble - and then, for good measure throw in some Human League, Ultravox, John Foxx and maybe, just maybe, a sprinking of another famous NY band, Sparks (anyone remember Beat the Clock?). I predict great things for these guys. And getting a ‘thank you’ email from one of them was kind of the icing on the musical cake.

Happy New Year
Happy New Year from the Concert in the Gardens, Princes Street, Edinburgh. It was a bit chilly watching Aberfeldy, Blondie and the Scissor Sisters, but a wee dram kept the cold away.

Cooper Profile
There has been a lot of chatter on the Internet about the fact that Cooper may or may not be gay, and Village Voice columnist Michael Musto has taken pleasure in quoting the gay magazine Metrosource, which has referred to Cooper as “the openly gay news anchor.” It has been assumed in certain circles in New York partly because he lives what looks to some to be a gay social life. He’s often seen at parties with Barry Diller, and he’s friends with the lead singer from the outré gay rock band the Scissor Sisters. And then there was the tempest in a teapot regarding a slightly heated interview last fall with Jerry Falwell about gay marriage. Some Cooper-obsessed bloggers insist that the anchor outed himself on the air, taking the gay side of the debate and saying, “We pay taxes.” They claim CNN originally posted a transcript with the “we” and then later changed it to “You pay taxes.” Cooper has maintained all along that he said “you.”

Festival Frolicals
After having a chat with a very nice bunch of people (And Corinna's clone) I went off to see The Prodigy. They made me realise that a) I've grown up since 1996 and b) They haven't.
I used to be such a huge fan of their electro rock racket but, due to their lack of output and poor, uninspired albums, I gave up on KERRAZZY Keith and his merry men. I went to see the end of the Scissor Sisters. They were jazzy.

Essay On Take Your Mother Out
Friday nearly killed me without having to do Music, it's still 6 hours of exams that I had to do. But it was better than I had dreaded, and Music Technology on Saturday was perfect. One of the highlights with that was I had to write an essay on Take Your Mother Out by the Scissor Sisters. I'm quietly confident about that, but hell, anything could happen, so I won't say how much I kick ass yet.

Pink Floyd Rocks Live 8
The real place to be today was in front of your computer. AOL’s Live 8 Music Channel provided complete live broadcasts from 6 different venues: Paris, London, Berlin, Toronto, Philadelphia, and Rome. And as the live shows came to an end, AOL immediately began rebroadcasting each in its entirety. This means that I’ll probably spend much of the remaining holiday weekend catching up on the many artists I missed out on completely, like a-ha, Brian Wilson, Crosby Stills & Nash, Scissor Sisters, Travis, Duran Duran, The Bachman Cummings Band (aka The Guess Who), and Jet. Because of MTV’s heavily edited broadcast, I’ll also be re-watching many of the acts whose performances I was only allowed to see a small portion of, such as Green Day (one of the day’s standout performances, based on the two songs I did see), Coldplay, Joss Stone, Keane (their phenomenal set should have made them huge U.S. stars — and it would have, if MTV hadn’t cut it down to about 30 seconds), The Killers, R.E.M., U2, The Who, and The Dave Matthews Band.

Glastonbury 2005
Click through for the whole weekend of fun and music.Anyhow, when Coldplay finished we had a sudden rush of something (not blood, perhaps enthusiasm?) to the head of our own, and a load of us piled up to Lost Vagueness, grinning and laughing. Can't really remember much else about the night, although we did get chatting to two girls in the queue for the toilet and find they were from our old home town. And we caught Bobby Friction, but missed the Scissor Sisters' secret DJ set. The next thing I remember is going in search of friends to lend us money at 5am, having given up on the queue for the cash machine near Pennards. Still, the photo of me and Troy at 1am is probably worth a thousand words.

Ready for bed
However. I am thanking Mr. John Galliano for giving me a great love for the Scissor Sisters. That’s right, Johnny boy. You have introduced me to modern disco. Freaking love it. Sounds like it came right outta 1978. I loves it.

Another favorite of mine is DJ Earworm… check out his site for a full list of songs, and if you decide to download, go for “No One Takes Your Freedom” first. Scissor Sisters - Take Your Mama vs. The Beatles - For No One vs. George Michael - Freedom ‘90 vs. Aretha Franklin - Think. Good stuff.

Comfortably Numb
What a waste of four minutes and twenty-six seconds. Seriously, who thought this was a good idea? It sounds as if the Bee Gees got back together and recorded a crappy disco version of this song, probably just because they hate Roger Waters. Yeah, I know it sounds kind of funny and maybe worth a listen, but that feeling lasts for maybe thirty seconds before you are filled with uncontrollable rage and curse the Scissor Sisters for visiting this travesty upon us and curse the Bee Gees for inspiring them. That’s what it did to me, anyway. Let me know if you want to come along when I egg their house.

DJ Mixes Scissor Sisters
DJ Earworm has done it again! After the superb "No One Takes Your Freedom," the talented DJ and mash-up artist from San Francisco has created another excellent mix of some of his favorite tunes. To celebrate the release of Fischerspooner's "Odyssey" today, he has mixed up FS' protest song "We Need A War" with Scissor Sisters' "Filthy, Gorgeous" to give the original a little more edge.

DJ Earworm, who when last we heard gave us the "No One Takes Your Freedom" mashup, is back here with "We Need a Filthy War," a mashup comprising Fischerspooner's "We Need a War" (lyrics by Susan Sontag) and the Scissor Sisters' "Filthy Gorgeous" as the main theme, with Edwin Starr's "War," Culture Club's "The War Song," the Pet Shop Boys' "It's a Sin," and the Chemical Brothers' "Out of Control"...

Scissor Sisters Noteriety
I think Jess will be most upset. Her reasoning for listening to bands like Scissor Sisters and Dresden Dolls is because they’re bands that have a small following, but are obscure enough that most people dont listen to them - That is, most people listen to the top 40 pop crap. I agree. I’m sorta ‘leaning’ towards Triple J but they’re talking annoys me to...
Anyway, on Sat morning (Yesterday) I was watching Rage , after they’d done their Aria Top 40 stuff, and was flicking thru cos they had some crap on [Looks like I’ll have to stay up and watch it at 1 AM of a friday night/sat morning, like everyone else out there!]. Anyway, Channel 9 had So Fresh on…[Warning: Avoid site at all cost - the Barbie Pink is known to insult!] And they were playing a Scissor Sisters video clip / song. I was curious at first, then shocked, then impressed - yes, mixed emotions.
they’re talking hey kris?? lol.. and i don’t listen to scissor sisters anymore for exactly that reason
